Although it’s generally accepted that women need to be very careful when it comes to meeting "strangers" on the internet, men also need to take the same online dating advice and take certain precautions. The truth is that stalkers, liars, cheaters and fraudsters can be male or female. There are certain steps that men can take to avoid becoming a victim, and enhance their experience online.
Now, I’m not saying you need to panic here, because most women are genuine, well-adjusted people, just looking for friendship or a partner. If you keep your eyes open and stay aware, you will pick-up on any potential problems.
Until you’ve had a few email contacts and you really get to know the women you are interacting with, the best online dating advice is to guard your full name, address, phone numbers, and place of employment. Do not give that information to anyone online until you are confident that they are who they say they are.
At the very least you could be up against a crazed stalker who’ll never leave you alone, and at the very worst, you could be up against a person who will use crucial information about you (or pass that information onto other people) to clean out your bank accounts. A common-sense approach is required here… be ruled by your head, not just your heart. If your instincts tell you that something is wrong, then it probably is… go with your gut instinct here.
